Bali - 4 days of fun.

Preface: firstly I'm going to apologise for the lack of images as we were having too much fun to stop at everything and take snaps.

Well I finally made it, after alot of deliberation Aaron, Rob and myself jumped on a plane and headed to Bali. Given that it was Rob's first time out of the country it was refreshing to explain how things are in Asia given that Aaron and I have been over a fair few times before.

The local currency is the Rupee (IDR) and the easiest way to work out a conversion rate was IDR10,000 for every Australian Dollar thought the conversion rate was about IDR9,400 it made everything alot
easier to justify in our currency.

.

Shortly after getting out of the airport we arrived at our hotel; The Grand Mega Hotel that we booked through Agoda. I've stayed in many a hotel in my time and this one takes the cake.

Seeing as we arrived late we thought it would be best to make an early night of it and wake up early the next morning to explore. Not knowing what the day would bring we were all up bright and early and left the hotel at 8. Big Mistake.

You see, all of the shops, malls, and cafes open their doors at 10am so there we were walking around an empty mall with nothing to do.

Shortly after we decided it would be best to head out to Waterbom Park and cross that off the list of things to experience and boy was it awesome. I definitely recommend it to first timers and seasoned travelers alike but make sure you get in early as it started to get busy towards the middle of the day. After going here, I'm going to get a GoPro for times like this.

Next stop was Kuta Beach, honestly there was nothing interesting here, once you've seen one beach, you've seen them all and I think the beaches in Boracay are more breathtaking than the ones Bali has to offer.

After a little bit of wandering along the beach we stumbled into the Hard Rock Cafe and decided to take a look inside and have a drink. Keeping up with the exploration we pressed on up Poppy Lane shortly after to 61Legian to hang out in their sports club and watch the footy.

There we discovered the IDR95,000 triple shot vodka slushie. I'm going to recommend that if you're going to get one, prepare for ALOT of vodka. After a couple of drinks, we decided to head back to the hotel to get changed for the night.

I'm not actually sure what happened that night but I know we went all over the place from The Bounty, to 61Legian, to The Boiler Room and I'm sure every little place in between. Here are some photos I found on my phone the next morning.

After a very late start to the day and with Rob nursing a nasty hangover, Aaron and I headed to the mall across the road to search for a hangover cure. What we found was the infamous J.Co Donut store and a little Japanese restaurant that made the most tender Teriyaki Chicken we've ever had.

With a coffee in hand for Rob, we headed back to the hotel and decided to head out for the evening. Firstly we stopped off at a couple of factory outlet stores to get clothes. Then yet again it was a massive night spent all up and down Kuta Square.

The next morning we decided to take in as much as we could and got a driver to take us to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud. We were that if a monkey came up to you, that you give it one of the banana's you bought out front and don't make any sudden movements.

Funnily enough Rob was startled by one of the monkeys and dropped what was left of his bananas. Hilarious stuff.

Next on the Agenda was a visit to the Rice Terraces. I have to say these were breathtaking.

We quickly hopped out for some quick flicks and pressed on to see Mt Batur.

Knowing that the volcano is somewhat still active (it only erupted 6 years ago) made the view  completely breathtaking. This' from the restaurant we had lunch at and yes the food was amazing.

After lunch was done and dusted, we hopped back into the minivan and headed for one of the temples. My apologies that I didn't get the name of the place but by then we were tired and sore from the whole weekend.

The temple itself was very humbling and we took our time to have a look around and explore what was available.

Later that night, we were on a plane and back home. That afternoon, we decided that the next trip will be to Phuket around August/September.
