In the last 2 months since starting this blog I have dropped more than 15kg (or 33.0693lbs for those who are not using the metric system) and would like to share a couple of ideas that I have collected in regards to how I got here.
DIET:
Since starting this blog, I've been eating much better than I have previously thanks to the Paleo Diet starter guide I found on Nerd Fitness in conjunction with Mark's Daily Apple the weight has literally dropped off. I found that diet is about 90% of the battle as these days we're all to accustomed to getting quick, cheap, and nasty food but the idea that you can create something that's filling, delicious and healthy is one that I look forward to each day.
Having said that I'm well aware you can treat yourself to eating out every now and then but even at a restaurant, I'm making concious decisions to eat the most Paleo item on the menu.
EXERCISE:
As you would have figured, getting out and active also plays a part in the weight loss success that I have experienced. Setting a goal of "an average of atleast 5kms a day 4 days a week" has been the motto regarding exercise - even if it means not having a MASSIVE night out but a sensible couple of drinks knowing that in the morning you'll be up early to hit the ground running.
So far I haven't stepped into the gym and have been doing all cardio exercise but that is going to change as of next month, I'll be starting strength training to really start looking the part.
LOOKING BACK:
In retrospective, anyone can get out there and do this. All it takes is motivation, willpower and an open mind to ignore the things that would normally lead you astray. Believe me, there have been times that I have ditched a late night for an early morning run, or have decided to no eat badly but rather stick to the Paleo diet but it's these little decisions you make on a daily basis that add up to incredible results. It's amazing what you can achieve if you set up the correct structure and make sure that you won't veer off the path for any reason no matter how big or small. I've gotta say having someone who is equally motivated as yourself to make it all happen is also another HUGE plus and I've got to take the time out to thank Rob for being there every step of the way.
LOOKING FORWARD:
In the future, I'm hoping to get down to 80kg but that is all dependant on what I see in the mirror. I know that as soon as I start strength training I will gain muscle which will pack on a few kgs but before then, the more weight I can shed the better.
Not only is this a fitness blog but it's also a lifestyle one and I'm looking forward to heading over to Thailand in a couple of months with Rob and Aaron to explore to see and experience new things. I can't wait and am excited to be looking forward to walking The Kokoda Trail in May next year. From here, anything is possible right?
