Setting a goal and then making sure I achieve it.

This morning I had a hair-brained idea regarding ways to motivate myself up until the trek along the Kokoda Trail next May.

What I have decided upon is that each month I'm going to set a distance goal and for the month of September, I'm setting it at 200kms.

I know over the last 3 months I've just scraped over the 400km mark but with the 200km number looming over my head I have no excuses and only myself to blame if I fail in reaching my goal.

What should happen:

  • I've rationed it out to roughly 10kms a day, 5 days a week which allows 2 days to rest and avoid burn out or any injuries.
  • Increase in activity will speed up conditioning for Kokoda with the end goal being 20kms a day for the last 2 months with a 15kg pack on.

What could happen:
  • Injury
  • Burnout

Let's see if I can make this happen.
