5th September 2013 - Nightcliff in Reverse

Today I missed out this morning (due to being exhausted) so I ran Nightcliff in reverse in the afternoon.

4th September 2013 - Nightcliff Mornings and what I'm learning

This morning I pulled myself out of bed and against the wishes of my body to continue sleeping I laced up and headed out to hit the pavement for another morning.

What I am finding is that though it's only the 3rd day I have covered over 30kms within the last 48 hours and my hips are killing me - I think it's time to have a session in the pool as a mini rehab this afternoon if I'm going to stand any chance of lasting the rest of the month. I'm also finding that I need to eat alot of protein to build lean muscle and not use it for fuel (duh) and as from Monday I've realised that I've already dropped 1.3kgs which is insane, but I'm going to have to now watch my diet as strictly as ever (might even start taking body measurements) and will have to invest in a heart rate monitor at some point.

Having said all this the goal is to cover 10kms a day by foot (at any cost) and I'm not going to give in easily.

32.14kms down, 167.86 to go.

3rd September 2013 - The Long Way Round

Last night was a valiant effort, but in an attempt to fit 10km a day into my schedule, I'm going to switch up my schedule from evenings to mornings to free up time in the afternoons.

2nd September 2013 - Nightcliff Extended

Today is the start of my September Challenge. It felt great to finally put some decent distance down. Cannot wait to get up tomorrow morning and do it all again.

The September Challenge 2013 Edition

I've been thinking about it for a while now, and now that a new month has come around I'm going to make the most of it. So far I have covered just under 500kms since May and though it seems like a lot it really isn't.

In a bold attempt to kick things into overdrive I'm going to set up a 200km goal for this month and the way that I see it; it's completely achievable when you break it down into managable increments.

I've figured that if I run 10kms a day, 5 days a week and use the weekends to recover and possibly do weight training, I should be able to get my bodyfat percentage down to about 17% (where I want it to be).

All of this won't be possible without a strict diet and that I'll be logging too.

Oh, I also got some new shoes.

I've just mapped out my first course for this afternoon and it looks like I'll be up for a 11km round trip. Cannot wait to kick this off.

30th August - Back into the swing of it

As I stated yesterday, I have been under the weather this past week but this morning I leapt out of bed and though I only had 3 hours sleep from the night before I smashed out just under 5kms in just over 25mins.

I've hit rock bottom, but not for long

This week I've been on the receiving end of a super nasty stomach bug in addition to the flaring up of my wisdom teeth which had left me bed ridden and off my feet for the last 4 days so you could say that indeed I have hit rock bottom.

The old me would have drawn a line in the sand, recovered, and went back to the detrimental routine of sitting in the man cave playing video games and eating junk food.

Luckily I'm not the old me anymore, there's no way I'm going to let all this effort go to waste - it's time to dig deep.

Yes I have put on a kilo or two in my under the weather state (it can't be helped if you're not even clocking in close to 1000 steps a day) but I'm itching for tomorrow morning when I burst out of bed at 5am and kick the routine back into gear with a 5km run. I'm that keen that I've even prepared all my running gear and work clothes for the day ahead of time which is something that I never do.

I've got just over 40kms till I hit the 500km total distance mark and I really want to smash it before my new shoes arrive in the mail next week.

Someone once told me to "always look for the positive in every negative" so this' what I'm doing. Not even a nasty stomach bug or pain from evolutionary "wisdom teeth" will stop me.

Let's do this.

25th August 2013 - East Point Quick 3km

This afternoon I wanted to see how fast I could run 3kms. Turns out I have some improving to do.
