16th September 2013 - My first 20kms

During work today I decided that tonight I would run my first 20kms. Tonight I came through with the goods and made it happen and I'm glad that I did. Looking back it took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the 7km Nightcliff circuit, now it's getting done in under 50 mins.

I'm hoping this opens up the doors for an opportunity to run 30+km marathons. I'm going to put in another one of these runs on Thursday while consistently running 10kms on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and another 20km run next Tuesday in the hope I'll be able to run 30kms early on Saturday morning. Fingers crossed.

14th September 2013 - Candy Jam

Well, today was fun. After all this running Candy Jam finally came and with it some surprising results and a funny story.

What happened is that when the fun run started Robert, myself and 3 others were leading the pack. What we failed to realise (until the very end) was that we were leading all 7000 people around the course in the reverse direction. It wasn't till I got back (and I counted no more than 15 other people were there before me) that security told us we ran the wrong way and they were having a laugh that everyone followed. Amazing. We managed to lead 7000 people 5kms the wrong way haha.

Now to get this pink, yellow, and green dye out of my skin and from what I've heard, it's going to last a couple of weeks too...

I'm going to take tomorrow off to relax as I pushed myself to my limits and almost threw up after the event but will come back strong with a 20km run to get back on track for this month.

12th September 2013 - East Point

Today was meant to be an off day, but I had too much energy to not get out and hit the pavement.

11th September 2013 - The Medium Distance Runner

One day I'll run 30kms for funsies. Here's a song by one of my favourite artists Promoe. Oh I also ran a bit today, I'm loving that I can cover all that ground and still feel fine. It's time to start getting quicker at it :D

9th September 2013 - Making up for lost distance

Over the weekend I wasn't feel great at all, it was pretty bad to be honest so today I tried to make up for some sort of lost ground by pushing through 14kms. Hopefully it'll get me back on my feet and on track for Candy Jam this weekend.

5th September 2013 - Nightcliff in Reverse

Today I missed out this morning (due to being exhausted) so I ran Nightcliff in reverse in the afternoon.

4th September 2013 - Nightcliff Mornings and what I'm learning

This morning I pulled myself out of bed and against the wishes of my body to continue sleeping I laced up and headed out to hit the pavement for another morning.

What I am finding is that though it's only the 3rd day I have covered over 30kms within the last 48 hours and my hips are killing me - I think it's time to have a session in the pool as a mini rehab this afternoon if I'm going to stand any chance of lasting the rest of the month. I'm also finding that I need to eat alot of protein to build lean muscle and not use it for fuel (duh) and as from Monday I've realised that I've already dropped 1.3kgs which is insane, but I'm going to have to now watch my diet as strictly as ever (might even start taking body measurements) and will have to invest in a heart rate monitor at some point.

Having said all this the goal is to cover 10kms a day by foot (at any cost) and I'm not going to give in easily.

32.14kms down, 167.86 to go.

3rd September 2013 - The Long Way Round

Last night was a valiant effort, but in an attempt to fit 10km a day into my schedule, I'm going to switch up my schedule from evenings to mornings to free up time in the afternoons.

2nd September 2013 - Nightcliff Extended

Today is the start of my September Challenge. It felt great to finally put some decent distance down. Cannot wait to get up tomorrow morning and do it all again.

30th August - Back into the swing of it

As I stated yesterday, I have been under the weather this past week but this morning I leapt out of bed and though I only had 3 hours sleep from the night before I smashed out just under 5kms in just over 25mins.

25th August 2013 - East Point Quick 3km

This afternoon I wanted to see how fast I could run 3kms. Turns out I have some improving to do.

25th August 2013 - East Point Sunday Sessions

I woke up this morning and thought I need to run and headed directly for East Point. Though it was later in the day than I would have liked (around 10am), I still pushed through.

24th August 2013 - 80kg weight goal reached!

I jumped on the scales this morning and to my surprise, I've hit my 80kg weight goal. To celebrate, I went running around Nightcliff because there's no rest for the wicked of course.

23rd August 2013 - East Point Friday

This afternoon I decided to start off this weekend of fitness with a run around East Point. Tomorrow I'll be up early to log a couple of kilometers and hopefully will be getting into the gym after a long hiatus. I'm hoping that by the end of the weekend I will have either reached my 80kg weight goal or will have come within a hairs breadth of it.

22nd August 2013 - Esplanade Under the Moon

I love getting up at 5am and running with the moon out. There's something primal about it all that cannot be described about the feeling of starting with the moon and finishing with the rising of the sun. This morning was slack though. Tomorrow will be different. I shall succeed.

20th August 2013 - Birthday Run :D

Well here it is, my 27th Birthday. In the last 3 months since I have started this blog I've dropped almost 18kg, covered a distance of over 400kms, committed to a healthy way of living, and have completely turned my life around. This morning I celebrated by running without stopping - at all.

19th August 2013 - To Lyons and Back

This afternoon, I decided to go for a quick run to Lyons to start this weeks regime.

15th August 2013 - Esplanado Bravado

Okay, this morning I leapt out of bed with gusto - it was like someone had lit a fire under me and I HAD to get out and crunch out the run for the morning.

The good thing is that I didn't really stop till I was at the bottom of the deckchair stairs and even then I think I could have pushed harder still.

14th August 2013 - On and on till the break of dawn

There's something to be said about getting up before the sun has risen, meeting up with a mate and running in the cool crisp air knowing that almost everyone else is snuggled up warm in their beds while you're outside witnessing the birth of a brand new day.
